Editorial Guidelines
Last updated: May 2026
At Cover Letter Copilot, our content exists to help job seekers make better decisions about their applications. These guidelines describe how we research, write, edit, and update everything published on this site.
Our principles
1. Practical over generic
Every article should answer a specific question a job seeker is actually asking. We avoid filler intros, generic "tips that anyone could write," and content that exists only to rank in search. If a piece doesn't give the reader something they can act on in the next 10 minutes, we don't publish it.
2. Evidence-based recommendations
When we cite statistics — recruiter behavior, hiring trends, ATS pass rates — we link to the primary source. When we say "this works," we mean we've seen it work with our 1.2M+ users, not that it sounds plausible.
3. Honest about AI
We make AI-powered tools. We use AI internally to draft articles and templates. We're transparent about this. Our policy:
- Every article is reviewed and edited by a human before publication. AI drafts are a starting point, never the final product.
- When we recommend AI tools (including ours), we say so clearly and explain the trade-offs.
- We don't publish content that's purely AI-generated and unreviewed. Each post is signed off by a named author.
How we keep content current
Job search advice goes stale quickly — ATS systems change, recruiter expectations shift, AI tools evolve monthly. Our content maintenance policy:
- Quarterly review: Every published article is reviewed at least once every 90 days. We update statistics, refresh examples, and verify links.
- "Last reviewed" dates: Articles display when they were last reviewed so readers can evaluate currency at a glance.
- Substantive updates: When the underlying advice changes (e.g., new ATS scanning behavior, new AI capabilities), we update the article and note the change.
- Retired content: Articles that are no longer accurate or relevant are either updated comprehensively or 301-redirected to a more current resource.
Corrections policy
If you find an error in our content — factual, statistical, or stylistic — please email hello@coverlettercopilot.ai. We respond within 2 business days and update the article with a noted correction.
Editorial independence
We earn revenue from subscriptions, not from affiliate links or sponsored content. When we compare our product to competitors (see our comparison pages), we present trade-offs honestly. We don't claim to be best at everything, and we link to competitor tools when they're a better fit for a specific use case.
Author accountability
Every article is attributed to a named author. Authors have public profile pages listing their qualifications and other published work. If you have questions or feedback about a specific article, you can contact the author through their profile page or email hello@coverlettercopilot.ai.
